SPORTS

One way that many students exercise on campus is on the intramural fields right outside of the Student Recreational Center. These fields located next to Palm Walk include most of the equipment you need in order to play sports including four volleyball courts, two fields, and a track. Even though the fields are available all day, every day most students go out there in the evening and play their favorite sports such as soccer, football, ultimate Frisbee, and volleyball. While a lot of people don’t realize it, sports are a great way to exercise and socialize at the same time.

According to the book Sport Nutrition: A Practice Manual for Proffesionals 5th Edition, sports are a good way to exercise because it makes people use their bodies to their limits sometimes without noticing it (Cardwell 29). The intramural sport organizations on campus have also provided the students with an opportunity to meet people with the same interests as them and help them maintain a healthy exercise routine. This is one of the best places to exercise because not only does it improve your physical health but it also improves your mental and social health by allowing students to interact with others.

Out in the fields, people run around the fields listening to music, play sports, and take part in outside activities. During the day it is unusual to see people out in the fields because of the heat, but in the evenings after about 6 in the afternoon the lights go on and people come out to play and exercise. This is also a very popular area to exercise since it is in the middle of the campus and many organizations use this area to carry out their interests in sports.
